Learn about measuring profitability, basic accounting concepts, how companies keep track of financial transactions including income and expenses, the basics of sound internal control, and why cash flow is critical to the success of a business. In addition, you will understand how debt is used to fund new initiatives and operations, the cost of debt and the basics of financial analysis including present and future value. You will discover how all of these tools are used to make sound financial decisions. Earn a University of Utah Finance and Accounting Certificate and you will be ready to advance in your career, be able to understand the basics of money with a good foundation in the basics of accounting and finance, and be better able to make financial decisions that affect the bottom-line. Graduation from the Financial Accounting Certificate Program requires completion of five core classes and two Professional Education electives. You can take any of the classes without enrolling in the certificate program. Please note: Not all classes are offered every term, but we try to offer each class in this certificate program during the course of each academic year.
