General information
When will your summer catalog be available?
The summer catalog is usually available by the end of March. However, most classes are now available on our website.
When do I need to pay for the classes I want my child to be in?
To secure a spot in the class, payment needs to be taken at time of registration either online, by phone, or in our office at 1169 Annex (1901 E. South Campus Drive).
When is the last day I can register for classes?
We recommend that you register by the Wednesday before the week the class begins. We
will take registrations until the Friday before the class begins if
it isn't already full.
Do you offer tuition discounts?
The half-tuition discount is not available to benefits-eligible University of Utah employees.
We do offer a 15% discount on tuition for all U employees.
Some tuition assistance is available for those who
qualify for the federal free and reduced school lunch program.
Club U
How can I find out more about this program?
Visit our Club
U website for information on the staff, electives, and more.
High School Classes
How much can I expect my ACT score to increase?
We find that students generally increase their scores by two to three
points (difference between diagnostic test score at the beginning of
the class and the full-scale proctored test at the end of the class).
Do I need to sign up for both semester classes (i.e., geometry first and
second semester) for a full year of credit?
Yes. The exception is English
literature and creative writing (each a half credit, but students have
the option of taking both for a full credit).
What is the homework like?
For English literature & composition, the homework is mostly reading. For creative writing, the homework often
involves bringing a typed, written piece to class to be critiqued (we often start the piece in class).
Preschool classes
Can I sign up my child, who is almost four, for preschool classes?
We
generally advise against this. There is a big developmental difference
with even a few months at this age. Students must be four by the first
class date.
Can I sit in on the class?
Parents can sit in for the first few minutes,
but we find that children behave better without their parents in the class. Exceptions
must be approved by the instructor.
Youth Academy of Excellence (YAE)
Is this program open to any student?
YAE is designed for bright and motivated students. Those in gifted and
talented programs are especially encouraged to enroll. A formal application
is not required.
